About Me

Sport and fitness have always been important to me. My formative years coincided with the golden era of British athletics - Coe, Cram and Ovett, seemingly breaking world records every time they ran. Looking back, I was a bit of a fanatic when it came to running, and it was a big part of my life (alas, no world records for me!)

After university I started working in IT, and for many years worked as a national account manager. This meant long days and many motorway miles (I was one of Burger King's most loyal customers!) Gradually, over the years, I took my eye off the ball when it came to looking after myself.

One day, when I was around the age of 45, I got a really nasty shock. I got on the weighing scales only to find they weren't working - they said I was a little over 17 stone! I double checked on another set, and they agreed. This was the wake up call I needed and I looked long and hard at myself. Here's what I found...

  • I was undeniably overweight.
  • I had had a 'dodgy back' for the last 12 years - occasionally necessitating time off work, when it 'went'.
  • I felt stressed all the time - like life was controlling me, not the other way around.
  • I drank most nights to help me unwind, and smoked.
  • The only exercise I got was taking the dogs for a stroll around the park.

So I decided to address things. I joined my local gym and set about making some major lifestyle changes. It didn't all happen overnight, but by the time I hit the big '5-0'...

  • I had lost 3 stone.
  • My back was in great shape (turns out that sedentary lifestyles don't do your back any good!)
  • I found I could handle the stresses of life much more easily.
  • I had given up smoking and alcohol.
  • Exercise was part of my daily life again...and I loved it!

In 2017, I decided to work towards qualifying as a Personal Trainer. At the back of my mind I knew I had always wanted to work in a field involved with helping people achieve health and fitness outcomes, and now that I knew, first hand, what a difference it made, I wanted to share that with others. I am certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine in

To help you commit to a fitness program that will work, I offer a 'gym-to-your-home' service, whereby I bring the gym to you!
