Body Mass Index

Use this calculator to check your body mass index (BMI) and find out if you are a healthy weight. BMI is a good indication of whether you are overweight or not, although if you are an athlete or very muscular you may score a higher BMI score even though you have healthy levels of body. BMI readings are also not appropriate for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Generally, the higher your BMI, the greater your risk of a large range of medical problems.

If your BMI is:

  • below 18.5 – you're in the underweight range
  • between 18.5 and 24.9 – you're in the healthy weight range
  • between 25 and 29.9 – you're in the overweight range
  • between 30 and 39.9 – you're in the obese range

Basal Metabolic Rate

Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories required to keep your body functioning at rest. BMR is also known as your body's metabolism; therefore, any increase to your metabolic weight, such as exercise, will increase your BMR. To get your BMR, simply input your height, gender, age and weight in the form.
